Hello. My name is Bibhu Dev Misra. I am a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur and the Indian
Institute of Management (IIM) Kolkata, and have been working as an Information Technology
consultant for more than 15 years. I spent a number of years working in the UK and the US, for various multinational organizations, including the World Bank and the United Nations, before returning back to India.
I am now settled in Kolkata with my family, and working on a start-up venture. My primary passion, however, is exploring and writing about the mysteries of the past. Over the past decade and a half, I have read the works of a number of writers - Graham Hancock, Michael Cremo, Adrian Snodgrass, Joseph Campbell, Walter Cruttenden, Subhash Kak, David Frawley, to name just a few - and have been inspired by their researches to seek answers to a large body of mysterious knowledge left behind by our ancestors in the form of sacred texts, inexplicable artifacts, awe-inspiring architecture, cryptic symbols, and fantastic myths and legends.
I traveled to many ancient sites around the world in order to gain a first hand experience of these remarkable places. For the past few years I have been writing articles on various topics of interest to me and publishing them on my blog. Some of these articles have been published in different
magazines and websites such as the New Dawn, Science to Sage, Nexus, Viewzone, Graham Hancock's website, Esamskriti, Waking Times, and others.
I would like to thank the readers of my articles, and I hope that you will continue to support me and show interest in my work. I greatly appreciate the feedback and comments left on my blog by the readers, and I try my best to respond to everyone. I am currently researching on large number of inter-related topics, and for the foreseeable future, I shall continue writing articles, and if possible books, to share my thoughts, findings and observations.
In addition to reading, travel, and writing my other interests are music, sports, and photography. I have added a new section in my blog where I share my travel photographs along with my thoughts and observations, and I hope this will appeal to the readers.

ReplyDeletelov anshu
Thank you. Very happy to receive your feedback.
Deleteexcellent article on Kali Yuga indeed. thanks for this wealth of research
DeleteThank you. Glad to know that you liked the article.
DeleteYour that article is like you served purpose of your life on earth and it helped and shall help to unleash the truth. Great work sir.
DeleteThank you for being so appreciative of the article...its great to know that it has helped to bring clarity into the concept of the Yuga cycles.
DeleteI was searching for some information about our scriptures on Yuga cycles. I have found some information through a video posted by Eddie Page from US. He claims he is a Pleiadian.. May be . He has a facebook page called project aquarias. Bit weird it sounds but he is not human. he claims so. please have a look https://youtu.be/RxdMp1UKgO0
DeleteThere are a lot of people out there who make absurd claims about themselves and future events...I dont pay attention unless I come across statements that are based on research and facts.
DeleteAmazing research and information, great work. The difficulty in today's world is that we have too much information and not easy to know what is right and what's not. Amazing job!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for being appreciative of my work.
DeleteHi I have sent you a mail requesting permission to translate and publish your write up on End of Kaliyuga. KIndly check and give permission. regards

Thank you for your interest in translating and publishing the article. I have given permission in my response to your email.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely agree that Kali Yuga is ending. Internet is an expression of Brahman and his nets. 2025 is near, lets see.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I do not think anything specific will happen in 2025, though. We will simply enter a 300 year period of transition, and the process of change will accelerate. Let's wait and watch.
DeleteJust read your Kali Yuga article, really interesting. Just came across your website and I'll be looking through it, as these topics about ancient things is a passion of mine.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Hope you enjoy the rest of the articles on the site.
DeleteDear Bibhu,
ReplyDeleteJust read your research on Kali yuga and Brahma's day. Excellent work on using numerous credible sources to distill the most logical conclusions. I also appreciate your courage to point out the inaccuracies made by our ancestors pertaining to Yugas. I have bookmarked your website and will be eagerly waiting for your upcoming writings.
Thanks and Regards,
Mayank
Hello Mayank,
DeleteGlad to know that you enjoyed reading the articles. Thanks for your words of appreciation. I hope you will like the upcoming articles as well.
Best,
Bibhu
Balochistan and Ethiopia Sphinx article were great.
ReplyDeleteCan you also find ancient time links to European Nations. I have come across these articles:
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/jaipur/Lithuanian-tribe-traces-Rajput-roots/articleshow/22503420.cms
http://www.sutrajournal.com/sanskrit-in-croatia-from-sarasvati-to-hrvati-by-james-cooper
Also read somewhere that Scandenevian nations are Skand Desh whose king was Kumbhakarna but this (Skand) part may not be even remotely correct, but still putting it here.
Thanks
Thanks for leaving your comments and for sharing the links. Glad to know that you liked the articles.
DeleteRegarding the European connections - I have done a bit of research on the Indian links with the Irish, and have also identified certain connections with the Scandinavian countries, with respect to their mythology and traditions.
Scandinavia could be derived from Skanda + Nabhi, i.e. the warriors who sprang from the navel of Skanda. However, these kind of phonetic derivations make any sense only if they are supported by more detailed explorations.
Since the Indo-European languages are known to be related, what is most important, in my opinion, are the connections with respect to their art, myths and traditions.
I do have plans to write about the Indo-European connections in future articles. However, due to time constraints, it might be a while before I get to it.
Best Wishes,
Bibhu
Thank you.

Thanks for your response.
DeleteI have not read any of your article yet but I am quite excited to read the comments. I must read now.
ReplyDeleteThanks...hope you will enjoy reading the articles.
DeleteSir,
ReplyDeleteI'm preparing for Civil Service exam. This is one of the best materials I have come across related to our past. Thank you for compiling this wonderful piece.
Stay blessed!
Thank you...its great to know that you have found the information useful for your studies.
DeleteGreatly Amazed by your article on Yugas and Kali Yuga End by 2025
ReplyDelete"https://archive.org/details/Scientific_Dating_of_Ramayana_Mahabharata_War_Vedas_Dr_P.V._Vartak"
Thanks for sharing the link to Dr.Vartak's work. I mentioned in one of the discussion points that Dr.Vartak's dating of Rama's birth to 7323 BCE is quite close to his date of passing away that I identified in my article i.e. 6776 BCE. I will try to read his entire work sometime.
DeleteHi Bibhu,
ReplyDeleteIts about your Balochistan Sphinx article, Hope in India Northern part of people/politicians will not accept the existence of Dravidian race on India at the same they will say Aryan invasion is fake theory.
But
-what artifacts you have to correlate Baluchistan Sphinx with Palava architecture and chola architecture.
-Which king constructed this temple in baluchistan.
-Any carbon test to find the age?
- Any scripts found in that structure?
regards
Thiyagu
Hello Thiyagu, there has not yet been any archaeological survey at the site. The Pakistan government treats it as a natural formation without having conducted any study. The purpose of my article is to highlight that this monument possesses many signs of being a man-made structure, and therefore a full-scale survey is required. Therefore, none of your questions can be answered at the moment.
DeleteAwesome work sir specially day & night of bramha, egypt's Jagannath connection
ReplyDelete. Sir what about vimanika shastra ?
I think the Vimanika Shastra is a hoax. It was written in the late 19th century by a person who said that it was "channelled" through him.
DeleteIf those were real specifications it should have been possible to make actual flying aircrafts based on the information.
Besides, if you check Indian mythology you will find that all ancient "flying vehicles" were given to the humans by the "gods", and were not man-made. So, the question of a technology does not arise.
Very True. Though it was disheartning to know that the Vimanika Shastra was a hoax.
DeleteReally like your writing and approach.
Really amazing articles! I was truly astounded because I have always been interested in such things. I really hope to see more of your work in the future. The connections you've drawn is really cool to read about. So you did mention in the Kali Yuga article that the 2025 is the beginning of the end of the world (or the cycle). So do you have any predictions on what sort of things/events may cause this demise? For example, the rise of nuclear weapons is a real concern for many people and even believe that it could cause a World War 3. Nothing is concrete in terms of the future, but I just wanted to know your thoughts on the matter.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for the wonderful info!
Hello, thanks for being appreciative of the articles. Regarding the end of the Kali Yuga, there is certainly a possibility of a large scale war which may cause widespread devastation. But, as I have mentioned in my latest article on the sinking of Dwaraka, it appears to me that comets and meteor impacts play a fundamental role in bringing about the yuga-ending devastations, and in cleaning and altering our biosphere, so that it becomes suitable for the next phase of civilization. So, I will say that the real change agents will come from outer space at the appropriate time.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI think its in the Epic of Gilgamesh - the gods of change came riding on balls of fire in the sky. Sounds like a menacing earth bound comet. A further research will lead you to a few gigantic meteor hit sites which you will be able to link to various Yug.
DeleteA prelim report by a Geologist researcher identified burnt/melted rock surfaces of Various megalithic monuments in Egypt. They also showed it to be prominent along certain directional & trajectories. I will share the link if you desire. The description suggests of meteor shower of sorts.
Yes, "ball of fire" are mentioned in many places in the Sumerian legends. I am not aware of the research suggesting meteor showers in ancient Egypt, please share the link. It is now becoming quite clear that comet / meteor impacts take place quite regularly, and I believe these are responsible for the periodic yuga-ending cataclysms.
DeleteDear Bibhu,
ReplyDeleteWould like to hear your take on geoengineering (some say it's mere conspiracy theory) and its role in creating natural disasters and on eugenics where a robotic hybrid human species called 'Homo Evolutis') is being engineered. These changes if true, may very well hasten the Yuga collapse before any outer space event!
Hello Bharath,
DeleteAs far as I know geo-engineering is no longer a conspiracy theory. The CIA director has admitted to geo-engineering to change weather patterns. Eugenics and population control has also been a public statement made by some leaders, although when it comes to the hybrid human development I have not come across any specific info, although I wont be surprised if it is going on in full swing behind closed doors.
Yes, such changes and many others, may take us towards greater disturbance and social evils. But the Yuga-ending cataclysms take place like clockwork every 2700 years. I dont it is under human control, and the real factors are probably cosmic in origin.
Hello Bibhu, So glad to read your reply clarifying above topics. Thanks so much!
DeleteHi Bibhu, On these same topics, if interested please check richessence.com, newworldwar.org by Mark M. Rich author. His four books (PDF available) give a big picture look and analysis of what's happening globally today and going forward. Thanks.
DeleteThanks Bharath. I will look it up.
DeleteHi Bibhu
ReplyDeleteYour research articles are just amazing. Are you not in Twitter?
Thank you. No, I am not on Twitter.
DeleteHi Bibhu
ReplyDeleteCycles of Yugas article has driven a lot of curiosity in me. Thank you so much for your work.
I listen to Sadhguru (on YouTube) and he mentioned that we are in Dwaper yuga with precise math calculation. Can you share your thoughts on the same.
I think when we look at the world today, with all its miseries and violence, there can be no doubt we are in the Kali Yuga. In fact, the level of consciousness right now is so low that it appears that we may have reached the very depths of the Kali Yuga. Therefore, I find it difficult to accept that we are in the Dwapara Yuga, when the spiritual, mental and physical abilities of people were very different, as a reading of the Mahabharata will tell you.
DeleteJust read Ur article on the Yugas. It does make sense. Will be re-reading it again, as I take time to understand them. I need a clarification. U have mentioned that Buddha was born around 629 BC. But I have read that ADI Shankaracharya was born around 607 BC and so Buddha was born much earlier. I need evidence regarding the same to verify the authenticity of either one. Can u please look into it?
ReplyDeleteAs per the traditional Buddhist beliefs, Gautama Buddha was born in 623 BC in Lumbini. For instance, this UNESCO link on Lumbini mentions 623 BC as the birth date: https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/666
DeleteMost scholars however date his birth to around 563 BC.
Regarding Shankara there is an argument that he was born in the 5th century BC. This is a controversial topic with arguments on both sides. However, irrespective of when Shankara was born, I do not think it has a bearing on the birth and life of Buddha.
Hello!
ReplyDeleteHave you heard about these mysterious horsemen-statues as is written about in this article below:
https://scroll.in/magazine/872541/who-left-these-mysterious-sculptures-of-horsemen-around-the-pir-panjal-range?fbclid=IwAR3JSprUNZfJ5sOAwOAP60rK04WqAS1aWxedcAKWDgnO3j4Rc0UPqCv8oXg
Is it something you are aware of and would you perhaps consider writing anything about these ancient artifacts?
Best Wishes
/K. A.
I had read about these mysterious sculptures a while back and had shared it on my facebook page. As of now, I do not have any specific thoughts on who could have made them and when, which is why I haven't done an article on it. If I do get some ideas in future I'll surely consider writing about them.
DeleteBest,
Bibhu
Dear Bibhu, the other day I was going through asko Parpola's deciphering the Indus script.I have been comparing your research. You really have a valid point comparing with gond graphemes.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your note. I really wish more researchers would start exploring the Gond connection more seriously. I have pointed out in some of my other articles that there are interesting overlaps between Gond folklore and traditions, and the imagery on some of the Indus seals.
DeleteBrilliant collection of facts n data. Very good narration. And thankfully someone is bringing our ancient text to worldwide audience. And our links & contributions to our collective ancient histories.
ReplyDeleteWould love to see you one day write an article about Indian Ancient Polygonal Masonry dating back to SatYug. That would join the dots worldwide.
Thanks for being appreciative of the articles. I will be writing on Indian megalithic constructions as well (pillars, dolmens, mounds etc). But I haven't found any good instance of Indian polygonal masonry apart from a few cases in Hampi and Nandi Hills, which are not of the same size or complexity as those found elsewhere in the world. If you know of any please let me know.
DeleteExcellent article on Kali Yuga ! Can we expect Kalki avatar
ReplyDeleteIn near future , if Kali Yuga is coming to an end ?
I am not sure if Kalki will take on a mortal form. As I have mentioned in some of my earlier comments, I think Kalki may come in a celestial form resembling a comet. In many texts, Kalki is described as being "comet-like", who will soar over the earth. A two-tailed comet does resemble a man on horseback. Besides, there is evidence of meteor and comet induced catastrophes during previous yuga transitions. So, we will have to wait and see what happens.
DeleteHere is a good news for us, Bibhu. If you remember I described about a book named Voice of Eternity @ Smashwords.com. The writer has somehow made it free to download. I did it and to my surprise, it really contains important hidden knowledge that you mentioned as lost during last Yuga transition in one of your article. You can go through it now and expand your field of research. Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I will check it out when I have some free time.
DeleteGreat article on Kali Yuga, makes sense and let's hope it's a true interpretation. I have always found the hundreds of thousands of years remaining of kali Yuga concept to be hopeless and unrealistic, there would be no life left here is this Yuaga carries on for several more hundred thousand years. Anyway, well researched and thank you for your efforts.
ReplyDeleteThanks Edward. I went through a similar phase of disillusionment with the inflated yuga numbers, before I started to work on a possible solution. Its always good to know from others that it makes sense to them. The yuga transition is not far away, and I think the changes in the environment will accelerate as we enter the period of transition.
DeleteI just love reading your articles. Thanks for restoring my belief in the possibility that there is something more to this world than just mundane drudgery.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind message. I am very happy to know that the articles have resonated with you.
DeleteExcellent article on Yugas. Do you see the sort of constellations indicated in the Mahabharata text for the the date of Mahabharata war that you have proposed? Do you have that paper available somewhere? It will be super interesting if the dates you propose tie to the astronomical observations and the eclipses mentioned in the epic in the war period. Thanks
ReplyDeleteHello,
DeleteThanks for leaving your comment. Great to know you found the article interesting. I have not done any research into the astronomical alignments during the war. I dont have a fixed date for the war, but a 300-year period from 3976 - 3676 BCE, with a high probability around c.3700 - 3800 BCE. Most of the astronomical alignments mentioned in the Mahabharata are routine alignments that take place every year. So that will not help me to pinpoint the exact date of the war. Besides, we do not even know if these alignments were the original ones mentioned by Vyasa or added later, since the Mahabharata has been greatly expanded (nearly 3 times) since the original version called Jaya.
The occurrence of two eclipses (one lunar and one solar) within a 13-day period before the war is the only data-point which is somewhat infrequent, but even those take place multiple times in a century. I will need to check and find out how many of those took place in the period between 3976 - 3676 BCE, and see if that helps me in identifying some candidate dates. Thanks for your question.
Sir what are your views on Grand solar minimum and it's extreme implications on earth
ReplyDeleteHello, I just read about the upcoming Grand Solar Minimum from 2020 - 2070. I wasn't aware of this, so thanks for bringing it to my attention. It appears that a Grand Solar Minimum could result in cooler temperatures over a period of time, and lead to "mini ice age" scenarios in some places. In do not see that as a "catastrophic situation", as such. It might help to reverse the "global warming" trends that we are now seeing. From the perspective of the Yuga-ending cataclysms, it does not seem to be of much relevance.
DeleteHello sir... I have a question about the dating of Mahabharata and Dwarka city...I have read some articles of Dr. Pv vartak from Maharashtra..he has very strong archeological and astrological proofs dating Mahabharata to 5561BC and Ramayana to 7323BC...what do you think about that?..even in the bay of cambay in south Gujarat , there is archeological proof of city dating to 7000 to 9500 yr old ... plzzz reply..:)
ReplyDeleteIf you read my article on the Kali Yuga you will find that, as per the Greek and Roman historians, the Indians counted their kings from an ancient king called Dionysus, whom Sir William Jones identified as Rama. This puts the date of Rama (possibly the date of his passing away) at 6776 BC. If we assume that he lived around 200-250 years, then he would have been born at around 7000 BC. As far as I am aware, there is no archaeological proof of Rama's existence, and I personally have no faith in astrological calculations for they are based on a huge number of assumptions. It is true that we have found submerged cities in the Gulf of Cambay which have been dated to around 7500 BC. So, there is evidence of well-developed settlements in India at around 7000 - 7500 BC. My belief is that Rama lived at around 7000 BC.
DeleteThank you for your articles, they are very inspiring. Love the ones about the yugas and about yoga mudras in orthodox christianity. Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteThanks for leaving your comment. Much appreciated.
DeleteI salute to your patience and perseverance. Many persons like me .... who could not peep out of our own world. 37 years of service ,retired and again working as Consultant... compulsions... constraints... .

Your works are brilliant..
Keep it up. ...
Articles like these will certainly provide a quick link to the amazing past.... for future generations.
Thank you for your kind words and encouragement.
DeleteDear Bibhu bhai, you might not remember me but I have also contacted you on Facebook few years ago, please let me know whether you are from Orissa, because I have come across this book called Bhavishya Malika some odia people are producing translations on youtube. These videos deal with Kalki Bhagwan and Kaliyuga please share your opinion on it and if possible please contact me on email aashutoshshukla999@gmail.com I have many unanswered questions.
ReplyDelete-A curious soul
Your blog is wonderful store of knowledge. It is a great work to unearth the ancient secrets of mankind, particulary India, to which you are significantly contributing. I share your interest in this field - though further emphasis on future in the light of what Sri Aurobindo said. Have a look at my website / blog at: http://indianpeoplescongress.wordpress.com/
ReplyDeleteRegards,
Shreepal Singh, Delhi
Thank you for your kind message. Happy to know that the articles have been of interest to you. Your website looks interesting. I will take a deeper look at it in the next few days.
DeleteYour article on Yuga durations are amazing and brilliant. Thanks for enlightening us thru your wisdom, knowledge and research. I certainly believe that we are at/in the fag end of Kaliyuga.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, we are indeed approaching the end of the Kali Yuga and the signs are there for everyone to see - the complete collapse of ethics, morality and civility, greed and selfishness, war and violence, diseases and pandemics, the increasing wildfires etc. I hope more people come to realize this and move away from the path that leads downwards.
DeleteHi Bibhu
ReplyDeleteI join the other commentators of this blog in congratulating you for the excellent article on the Kali Yuga date. I have a couple of observations.
1. I dont see how the age of Rama can be dated to 7000 BC. Firstly we have no archaeological evidence of a high culture in that period. The evidence of Megasthenes and the conflation of Rama with Dionysus is problematic. Dionysus in Greek mythology is related to wine and his festival saw drunken orgies. By no stretch of imagination can we connect Rama with wine. Rama may have used intoxicants as part of the culture in which he lived but it was not the central motif of his life. Also it depends on the identity of Rama. There are 3 Ramas - the son of dashrath, the Parshu wielder who decimated Kshtriyas and Balarama the elder brother of Krishna. Balrama is associated with wine but he cannot be seen as the founder of a civilization since he comes late in the Puranic chronology. So one does not know who Megasthenes meant when he mentioned Dionysus as the founder of Indian civilisation.
2. The date of the Mahabharata War has been calculated by mainstream historian Giacomo Beneditti to be 1432 BC. In his article on the chronology of the Puranic kings which he relates to the Indus Valley Civilisation he makes fascinating conclusions with available archaeological and astronomical evidence. See https://www.academia.edu/7683313/The_Chronology_of_Puranic_Kings_and_Rigvedic_Rishis_in_Comparison_with_the_Phases_of_the_Sindhu_Sarasvati_Civilization
Please go through it since its fascinating.
Hi Bibhu
ReplyDeleteWith regard to Kaliyuga I would like you to go through the prophecies of the telugu see Veer Brahmendra Swami the author of the Kalagnanam. One website that gives the prophecy is
http://indiaprophecy.blogspot.com/2015/12/sequence-of-incidents-until-end-of-kali.html
The prophecies of the Swami were given in terms of the Telugu calendar wherein the name of the year was mentioned. The Swami said that he would be reborn in the year Vishwabasu. That corresponds to 1965 but can also be 2025 because the years because its a 60 year cycle. There are some excellent comments by a user named Raj in the comments section of the above mentioned page. Raj points out that the Swami said “After 4948 years of Kaliyuga, coming Plavanga nama samvatsara will have 2 solar and 3 lunar eclipses”. Raj uses other prophecies to identify the significance of 4948 such as that of Saint Sarvajna. He writes “ In Ninth chapter of Kalagnanam book of Brahmamgari matam, Saint Sarvajna predicted that by Kaliyuga 4794 years, Delhi Muslim kings will be no more. Last King of Delhi died in 1862 A.D. So Kaliyuga started nearly at 2931 B.C. (1862-4794= -2931”.
The year 2027-28 does have the two solar and three lunar eclipses. Its also theyear Plavangala by the Vaishnav calendar. That is why 2025 may be prophesied year of birth of the Kalki Avatar or Veera Bhog Vasantraya as he is identified in the Teugu predictions.
Another set of predictions should be known to you since they are by an Odiya saint Achyutananda who was a contemporary of Chaitanya.
These predictions need more research. The user Raj used to have his own website but he closed it down after a few years. Now it needs the wisdom of someone like you to peer through the darkness. The prophecies mention several cataclysms starting from the year Virodhikrit or 2069. It is interesting that in 2068 the asteroid apophis may have a near encounter with the earth.
Regards
Harsh
Hello Harsh,
DeleteThanks for leaving your comments, and sharing the link. I had seen the Kalagnanam predictions earlier, and found them to be interesting. It talks about a star of "Yuga Change" to be seen on 2025 which matches with the date I have calculated. It also talks of numerous comet and asteroid impacts which will end the current civilization, which matches with the information I have gathered as well. However, I think that the major changes will be over by 2040 i.e. the Kali Yuga dharma will be extinguished by 2040. Again, this is based on other considerations that I will write about in course of time. I am not keen about very specific year-wise predictions, since I dont think it is possible to foretell the future so accurately. All we need is a general sense of what to expect in the period of transition, and cosmic bombardments are very high on that list.
Thank you for the fantastic articles. Well researched and presented nicely.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind comments. Great to know you enjoyed the articles.
DeleteSir your articles are worth reading. They give meaningful insights about our past. Sir I have one question that have studiad Dr. P. V. Vartak's works? If yes then what are your insights about his work in Indology.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I have not read Dr.Vartak's works, but I am aware that he had dated Rama to around 7300 BCE using astrological methods. This is close to the date I have arrived at using the Yuga Cycle chronology. However, I am not favor of dating using astrological methods, because I have seen that the astrological data given in the texts can be cherry picked and interpreted in any number of ways to support one's own thesis. Also, we cannot be sure which pieces of astrological data were present in the original texts, and which were added later, since both the epics contain a lot of interpolations. I prefer to stick to archaeological, geological and historical data, which can be cross checked and validated.
DeleteHello Bibhu,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the articles that reflect your persevering efforts to shed light on the Indus Valley civilization, they are most highly appreciated. I have been following them with great interest, as I myself am working on Indus script. In fact, after 3 years of working on Minoan script, I have discovered that the background language must be Japanese. Certain researchers have dropped hints that I should look into Indus script as well and, recently, I have come to the conclusion that Indus script can also be deciphered through Japanese. While people may initially react with incredulity, this may provide the reasons why there are so many commonalities between the 2 civilizations.
Hello Hiro,
DeleteThanks for leaving your comments and observations. I am glad to know that my articles on the IVC have been of interest to you. Your line of thinking about the Indus script and language is very original. As far as the script is concerned, assigning values to the different symbols has always been a challenge. There are many similarities between the Indus script and the Easter Island script, but I dont know if anyone has followed up on that. Check this out: http://www.ancient-wisdom.com/easterislandindusvalley1.htm There are also a few similarities with the Brahmi script of India, and with the Phoenician alphabets. Regarding the language, many interpretations have been given using the Proto-Dravidian language. I suspect there may be many similarities between Japanese and the Dravidian languages, which could be why you have been able to perform decipherments using Japanese. Please check out this link: https://www.quora.com/Is-the-Japanese-language-related-to-Dravidian-languages

ReplyDeleteHi Bibhu. Appreciate your work on the Yugas. If the precession rate (the rate at which the stars move across the sky) was fixed at 50 arc seconds per year the cycle would take exactly 25, 920 years (because 360 degrees divided by 50 arc seconds = 25,920 years). But the rate (now 50.3"py) has been speeding up ever since modern observation records were kept. All indications are the cycle will average about 24,000 years, and always appear to be longer during the lower ages when the sun moves slower, and shorter during the higher ages when the sun moves faster, simply due to Kepler's Laws. Happy to provide background if you wish. Also, just curious why you do not use Manu's 4,3,2,1 ratio of the various ages? That system syncs well with history and world calendars. Just an observation. ReplyDeleteHello Walter,
DeleteNice to hear from you. I have read you book, "The Lost Star", and you probably don't remember that a few years ago we had a long chat on this topic on Graham Hancock's discussion forum.
Let me address your second question first. As you are aware, the cyclical framework of history was known to most ancient cultures. The guiding principle that I had adopted for the formulation of the Yuga Cycle timeline is that, we need to delineate the "common threads" across various ancient doctrines, since most texts have become distorted over time. This is the reason why I felt that the concept of an ascending and descending cycle of 12,000 years each makes a lot of sense. Many ancient cultures - such as the Greeks, Persians, and Indians (as per the Laws of Manu and Mahabharata) - believed in a cycle duration of 12,000 years or thereabouts, while the concept of ascending and descending cycles was not only elucidated by Sri Yukteswar, but is mentioned in the Kalachakra doctrine of the Jains, the Aryabhatiya, the Vedic text Kasyapa Samhita, and is implicit in Hesiod's description of the Ages of Man.
However, the 4,3,2,1 sequence for the duration of the ages is not mentioned in any other tradition, which makes its validity quite suspect. The Persians believed in a World Cycle of 12,000 years which they divided into four ages of 3000 years each. The Romans considered each Age to be of 2850 years durations (as per the Romaka Siddhanta), while eminent Indian astronomers such as Aryabhatta, Srishena, Vishuchandra believed in yugas of equal duration of 3000 years each. These are very strong indications that the equal duration principle is the original and correct one, and 4,3,2,1 principle was a mathematical manipulation that crept into the Indian texts at a later date.
I have explained in detail in my original article on the Yuga Cycle - and have treated the matter with a lot more rigor in the book - that the Calendar of the Seven Sages with its 2700-year cycle was extensively used in ancient India for tracking ancient timelines, and, as such, it provides the best device for tracking the Yuga Cycle. The duration of the Great Year, as per Heraclitus of Ephesus, was 10,800 years, which when divided by 4 gives us exactly 2700 years as the duration of each Age of Man. Certainly not a coincidence, by any means.
In the end, the Yuga Cycle timeline I have proposed provides a convincing explanation for the periodic rise and fall of civilization across the world. Each of the yuga transitions in the framework corresponds to a time of global cataclysms, when the existing civilizations were obliterated by powerful forces of nature. These are the times of a global reset of civilizations, which was termed as "pralaya" in the ancient Indian texts. Every other culture - Greek, Egyptian, Aztec, Hopi - believed in the concept of periodic destruction and renewal of civilization. The proposed framework also indicates that the end of the Kali Yuga is just around the corner, which makes a lot of intuitive sense, given the rapid and alarming degeneration of human consciousness over the past two decades. Indeed, virtue has been rapidly devolving ever since the beginning of the industrial revolution. Technological advancement is no indicator of a higher yuga, and modern technology has, in fact, pushed us into greater degrees of greed and selfishness, hatred and violence. It is only dharma that determines which yuga we are in, and right now we are at a stage where there is hardly any dharma left in the world to salvage.
These are the two main reasons why I did not agree with Sri Yukteswar's formulation of the Yuga Cycle timeline, and why I felt there was a need for a revision. In Yukteswar's framework, the yuga transitions are not characterized by a global reset of civilization. Moreover, it is unacceptable to think that right now, we are in any other yuga than the Kali. How one can come to any other conclusion, while looking at the terrifying adharma pervading the world today, is inconceivable to me.
Now I come to the first question that you raised, concerning the duration of the precession cycle. In your book you had made use of the data compiled by Simon Newcomb to argue that the rate of precession has been speeding up significantly over the last century. However, the equations used by Simon Newcomb to compute the value of precession was not very accurate. Jay Henry Lieske developed an updated theory in 1976, which gave a value of 50.29 arc seconds per year, and the equations were further refined later to arrive at a value of 50.28 arc seconds per year. We can't compare the modern value with the data compiled by Newcomb, for that will be like comparing apples and oranges.
DeleteThe current equations indicate that the rate of precession is increasing slowly, and as a result the duration of the precession cycle is decreasing at roughly 6 years per century. Even if we assume that this decline continues for the next 12,000 years, we would still arrive at an average duration of the precession cycle in the range of 25,400 years or so. In other words, the increase in the rate of precession is not significant enough to explain the large discrepancy between the 24,000-year Yuga Cycle and the 25,800-year precession cycle.
This is the reason why I felt that an alternate explanation is required, and the Greek theory of Kataklysmos and Ekpyrosis perfectly explains the mismatch in values. We did go through a 1200-year period of intense cold during the Younger Dryas period which the Greeks called Kataklysmos or the "great winter" of the Great Year. This means that the end of the Kali Yuga in 2025 will be followed by another 1200-year period of transition called Ekpyrosis or the "great summer" of the Great Year. When we take Kataklysmos and Ekpyrosis into consideration it provides a perfect match between the precession cycle and the Yuga Cycle. This also explains why many sacred doctrines talk of a "1000-year" period of a "perfect age" following the Kali Yuga, when the gods will live on earth with humans and direct the course of human civilization. They were telling us of the period of Ekpyrosis which will follow.
I must also add that I no longer subscribe to the binary-star theory that you had proposed in your book. In a binary system, there will not be a true precession of the equinoxes; rather, there will be an "oscillation of the equinoxes" i.e. the equinoctial points will oscillate between two fixed points on the zodiac. In the first half of the orbit of the solar system (around the CG of the binary system), the equinoctial point will precess w.r.t to the fixed stars of the zodiac, but in the second half of the orbit the equinoctial point will move in the opposite direction, resulting in an oscillation of the equinoctial point. I have attached an image to explain my observation. Moreover, in a binary system, the spin axis of the earth will always point in the same direction, and not trace out a circle around the north ecliptic pole. As a result, the Pole Star will remain unchanged over the duration of the precession cycle.
DeleteIn my opinion, the simplest explanation for precession is a solar system that rotates on its axis as it revolves around the GC. We know that the solar system is a spherical body - taking the speherical Oort cloud into consideration - and every spherical celestial body rotates on its axis in order to conserve angular angular momentum. Therefore, a solar system that rotates clockwise on its axis, once in 25,800 years, as it revolves around the GC, will perfectly explain the phenomenon of precession without the requirement of any additional variable.
Thank you for those very thoughtful comments. The latest precession rates are in the range of 50.38 to 50.40"py, That's an increase of .10 arc seconds just since Lieske's 76 paper. See IAU for latest values. Extrapolating the "rate of increase" suggests a 24,000 cycle is well within reason. Personally the exact length does not matter to me, but it does appear that our current system of time: a 24 hour day with 12 hours each of AM and PM is based on something! Most likely it is a microcosm - of our macrocosmic system of time - the Yugas with alternating dark and golden ages. Since I wrote Lost Star, astronomers around the world have started to look for a large mass, outside the sphere of the classical planets, tugging on our solar system. This is the only way they can explain the behavior of the dwarf planets, including Pluto. Something big has to be pulling on them. While the Caltech team (Brown and Batygin) have been searching for a 9th planet, some are starting to say the culprit must be farther out. I think Barnard's star, the fastest star in the sky, soon to be our closest, is the best candidate. Interestingly, it is coming straight at us and mainstream astronomy now predicts its closest approach to our sun will be the same time that Yukteswar predicted the closest approach of our "dual star", + or - 3%. That's pretty amazing! If the sun does indeed move in such an orbit, around a "common center of mass" with Barnard's, that center would be about .7 light years away, and produce the observable we now call precession (sun moving across sky at ~50"py). This is because the spin axis is still affected by the classical Newtonian forces (they are real). However, those forces are responsible for only about 1 or 2 arc seconds of axial torque. Therefore, the other 48-49 arc seconds of solar motion we observe, must happen because the sun actually moves! But these are all just details. I sincerely do appreciate your work to bring knowledge of the Yugas to the masses. It's important. Thank you! Walter.
